NON-Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Yad VashemRecently, I visited the Israeli Holocaust Museum “Yad Vashem.” I would encourage everyone to make the trip to Israel at least once, and if you do, be certain not to miss Yad Vashem. It will change you forever.

One thing that should be striking to any Christian is the role the Christian Church played in the Holocaust. Six million Jews were slaughtered including one and a half million children. Where was the church? They were mostly standing aside in silence.

Each day, we are faced with the decision to take an action or not; to speak out or say nothing; to help a need or disregard; to love or not to love. Sin is not only something done but also something not done.

In the Bible, James tells us “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Take a moment to pray and reflect. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. What have you neglected to do? Now what do you need to do?

Life Lesson: Actions you do not take can be as bad as actions you do take. What you do not say may speak louder than what you do say.

May the church continually remind itself to do good in our communities and around the world!

Remove the Blind-fold

BlindOn March 8, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 simply vanished and just as quickly, dozens of different theories as to what happened were broadcast all over the globe. But there’s only one true story.

Paul seemed to be a very kind man, maybe soft spoken, yet he could be a fireball when people challenged him or got in the way of him helping people. He wanted to be kind and loving but was also willing to be firm. This is a picture of Jesus. In the book of Second Corinthians, the Apostle Paul is dealing with a group of people who seemed to doubt him at every turn. They are examining Paul’s faith when they really should be examining their own. Despite his efforts, many continued to be blind to the truths he was sharing. They chose to believe lies than accept the truth and therefore, they committed themselves to spiritual blindness.

Friend, don’t be spiritually blind. The Truth is in God’s Word. Accept that Truth and then live by the Truth. Our spiritual life, in part, is built on self-examination followed by course corrections. As you drive a car or steer a boat, you make many small adjustments to the wheel. In our lives, it is insightful to read a portion of the Bible, think about what it says, and adjust our course based on God’s Word.

It may hurt at times as you examine your life, but that is for your own good. Trust God and remove the blind-fold.

Life Lesson: People are never as blind as the ones who refuse to see.

On March 24th, Malaysia sadly announced all souls on board Flight 370 had been lost in the Indian Ocean. Still, many grieving families are, for now, choosing not to believe it. Please pray for them all.
